Solid Ground Apartments

Welcome home!

Solid Ground is a 40-unit permanent supportive housing apartment complex. This transformative housing model addresses the critical need for affordable housing for some of the most vulnerable members of our community – people experiencing homelessness and living with a mental health or substance use disorder.

At Solid Ground, new residents do not have to worry about the barriers that can prevent them from accessing housing. Once moved in, people also have on-site support with mental health, substance use disorders, job training, and other resources.

Trauma-informed Design

For people transitioning from homelessness, it’s not as simple as getting the key to their new home and everything is perfect. The trauma they carry over from their time without a home can affect how they adjust to their new life. Trauma-informed design takes these into account and each detail is considered to make the residents feel safe in their new home, including:

  • Mattresses have a firm side and a soft side, giving residents options that are most comfortable.
  • Bed frames that have a s solid piece instead of bars under the mattress, so residents can choose to remove the mattress and still sleep in a bed.
  • Furniture that is either one whole piece or assembled so screws and nails cannot be removed.

Get Involved

There are so many ways for you to get involved! Solid Ground is part of our mission to help people find a safe, stable home for those experiencing homelessness. Say “Welcome Home” to our residents with your support today.

Since many are making the transition from being unhoused, they often don’t have the ability to purchase the basic necessities of setting up a household. Fresh Start Baskets will help fill this need by providing items such as bed and bath linens, cleaning supplies, toiletries, paper goods, kitchenware and more.

Stock the Pantry

The excitement of having your own place includes being able to cook fresh and healthy meals for yourself. You can help our residents feel at home by stocking our pantry with non-perishable food items for them to use in their homes. We are also accepting donations for clothing.

Applications and Referrals

Thank you to our team members, community partners, and more for referring residents to our Solid Ground apartments! We received over 100 referrals and have closed the referral process to begin working with qualified applicants for a planned move-in this spring.  Part of this process included a randomized lottery process to ensure a fair and equitable selection of all the candidates, and will be followed up with reviewing qualifications from those chosen during the lottery.

We look forward to welcoming each of our residents to their new home soon!
