Jefferson Center for Mental Health Announces Sarah Alquist as New CEO

The Board of Directors of Jefferson Center is pleased to announce the appointment of Sarah Alquist as our next President and CEO. Sarah will be joining our team on May 12th, bringing a deep passion for behavioral health, a heart for service, and a wealth of experience across non-profits, state associations, government agencies, and health plans. Sarah steps into this role with a deep understanding of current trends and behavioral health policy and is poised to guide Jefferson Center into the future while staying true to our mission of hope, healing, and resilience.

“I am honored to join Jefferson Center as CEO,” said Sarah, “and am grateful for the opportunity to build on its legacy of compassionate behavioral healthcare. I look forward to working with our team and community to ensure individuals and families receive the support they need, when and where they need it.”

Sarah brings a dynamic leadership approach rooted in humility, servant leadership, and a steadfast commitment to those in need. Her background includes extensive experience in healthcare policy, business development and strategic growth, equipping her with the skills necessary to navigate the evolving landscape of behavioral health in Colorado. She values the fact that our dedicated staff, partnerships, and the individuals and families we serve are at the core of Jefferson Center’s success, and Sarah is dedicated to empowering people and collaborating for meaningful impact.

For 67 years, Jefferson Center has been a pillar of mental health support in our community, providing person-focused, high-quality care to those facing life’s challenges. Sarah will build upon the strong foundation already in place to develop trust with internal and external stakeholders to align towards a shared vision. As mental health needs grow and the field becomes increasingly complex, Sarah will lead with strategic vision, collaboration, and an unwavering focus on person-centered care.

Please join us in welcoming Sarah Alquist as she embarks on this new journey with Jefferson Center. Together, we will continue to make a profound impact—one life, one family, and one community at a time.
